Noobiesoft operates Mirin, an offline Android workout tracker. Our consulting site is at noobiesoft.com. We also operate nexus, a separate business-management product; this policy applies only to Mirin.
Mirin does not require an account and does not upload your workouts to Noobiesoft servers. This Privacy Policy explains how Mirin handles information on your device.
This policy is intended to align with Canadian privacy expectations (including PIPEDA) for a local-first consumer app. Google Play still requires a public privacy policy for Mirin even though the app is offline, because it stores health and fitness information on your device and may use camera and notification permissions.
mirin:// link) and exporting backups or CSV files are user-initiated.Depending on how you use Mirin, the app may store locally in its on-device database (Room) and app preferences (SharedPreferences):
This information stays in Mirin's local storage on your device unless you export, share, or back it up.
The optional home-screen widget reads the same on-device data to show a summary. It does not send data to Noobiesoft.
Through Mirin, Noobiesoft does not collect:
If you purchase Mirin on Google Play, Google processes the payment under Google's terms. Noobiesoft does not receive your full payment card details inside Mirin.
Mirin may request Camera permission only to scan QR codes that encode shared routines. Camera frames are used for on-device barcode detection. Mirin does not use the camera for social photos, advertising, or uploading images to Noobiesoft servers.
You can deny camera permission and still use Mirin. You can import routines via shared links or other non-camera methods when available.
If you enable the rest timer, Mirin may request permission to show notifications, use vibration, and schedule exact alarms so an alert can fire when rest ends.
Those alerts are generated and delivered on your device. Mirin does not send rest-timer notifications through Noobiesoft servers or push services operated by Noobiesoft.
You can deny notification permission and still use Mirin; rest-end alerts that depend on notifications may not appear.
If you choose to share a routine (QR code, system share sheet, or mirin:// link), the shared payload may include routine structure and exercise details you selected to share. Recipients who import the routine store a copy on their own device.
If you choose to export a JSON backup or export workout history as CSV, Mirin writes a file you can save or share with the system share sheet or file picker. Those files are under your control. Noobiesoft does not receive a copy unless you separately send one (for example by email).
If you import a JSON backup, Mirin reads the file you select and stores its contents in the local database on your device.
Mirin uses on-device libraries such as:
These features are intended to run on your device. Some Google libraries may use network access to download scanning models or library updates. That process does not send your workout history to Noobiesoft. Review Google's policies for their libraries as applicable.
The Android build may include network-related permissions because of those libraries even though Mirin does not provide cloud workout sync.
Mirin is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through Mirin.
Because Mirin data is stored on your device:
If Android Backup or another device backup feature is enabled, your device maker or Google may back up app data according to their policies. Noobiesoft does not control those backups.
Exported JSON or CSV files remain wherever you saved them until you delete those files yourself.
Mirin is designed so workout data need not leave your device for normal use. No method of electronic storage is perfectly secure. Protect your device with a lock screen and keep your system updated.
Workout logs and optional daily body weight may be considered health or fitness-related information. Mirin is a consumer fitness log, not a medical device, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Use of nexus or the noobiesoft consulting site is covered by those products' own policies (for example the nexus Privacy Policy), not this document.
We may update this policy when Mirin's practices change (for example if we add analytics, accounts, or cloud sync). The "Last Updated" date above will change. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
